Mountain Division Alliance Mission The Mountain Division Alliance is a coalition of people, organizations, and agencies formed to create an enhanced future for the Mountain Division of the Maine Central Railroad. The Alliance and its members support state acquisition and revitalization of the right-of-way. Possible future uses include commuter rail, rail freight, and excursion rail, all linking Portland to the White Mountains and beyond through northern New England, and a year-round, multi-use trail for transportation and recreation, sharing the right-of-way. The Alliance welcomes new members and offers a forum for ideas and suggestions concerning the renewal of the Mountain Division corridor.
